Your approach is correct, but you made two minor mistakes along the way.
(Forgot to multiply the h with the \underset{\sim}{b} component and miswrote \frac{1}{3} as \frac{1}{2})
Here is my working if you’re curious, it’s also quite similar to yours 
And we know that \overrightarrow{OA} = \underset{\sim}{a} which means \frac{1}{2}h - \frac{1}{3}k = 0 so that there is no vector component in the b direction.
Then just like what you did, we compare the results and solve using simultaneous equations.
