Hi Dhaksheina, welcome to SKORA!
Question:
Find
(i) the value of p,
(ii) the area of the shaded region. [5 marks]
Solution:
Since I was not given the context of question, I assume that line KL is normal to the curve at A. I had to use the differentiation formula and the use of gradient of normal in order to find the value of p, which is covered under Form 4 syllabus I believe.
I believe the point A(1,3) is wrong and should be replaced with A(1,2) as 1^2+1 = 2.
IF you think A(1,3) should be used instead, refer to the answer in black ink.
However, if you did not change A(1,3) to A(1,2), it is still solvable but answer might be βWrongβ.
Answer for (i) : Value of p
If A(1,3) is used instead, p will be 7
Answer for (ii) : Based on p value of 5.
If A(1,3) is used instead, total area of shaded region will be 31/3
Thanks so much β¦ Really helpful
